⚡ PQ Thresholds Comparison

⬇ Excel
Each meter's programmed PQ thresholds & CT/VT setup (from Setup Read), compared against NRS 048-2 / EN 50160 limits and against each other. ● Green = meets NRS limit   Blue text = meets NRS but sits exactly on the limit (a tighter setpoint has more margin)   ● Red = outside NRS limit   ● Amber = differs from the other meters (odd-one-out).
Timer rows (persistence times) are judged against the typical as the preferred midpoint — green cell either way, with green text = at typical, blue text = under (faster), red text = over (slower). The Σ / Check column totals numeric setups (e.g. CT sizes) and flags whether all meters match.

Assessment: 10-min RMS averages · 7-day rolling window · 1 008 bins per parameter. Exclude zero-voltage (outage) periods before computing percentiles.
❷ Voltage Event Logging (count occurrences)
EventVoltage levelDuration
Voltage Sag (Dip)< 90% Vn10 ms – 1 min
Voltage Swell> 110% Vnany
Short Interruption< 1% Vn< 3 min
Long Interruption< 1% Vn≥ 3 min
P.53 (PQ Log) = sags & swells; stores voltage level at event (Event Param 1).
P.52 (Power Failure Log) = long interruptions; stores duration in seconds.
NRS 048-2 classifies sags by depth × duration (Type X/Y/Z for SA overhead lines).
❸ Data Integrity & Availability Index
Required for NERSA quarterly submission:
• % of valid 10-min measurement intervals captured in the reporting period
• Declare all offline / communication-loss windows
• Minimum acceptable: ≥ 95% data availability per meter per month
• Outage periods (zero voltage) must be flagged separately — not counted as non-compliance
• Load-shedding intervals must be identified and disclosed (compare P.52 timestamps vs Eskom schedule)

⚠ Eskom Supply vs Municipality — Distinguishing Issues
Eskom upstream issue indicators:
• Incoming voltage low at incomer meter AND low at all downstream feeders simultaneously
• Frequency out of range at all meters at same time
• Power failure (P.52) timestamp matches Eskom load-shedding schedule

Municipality / local issue indicators:
• Voltage drop on specific feeder only while other feeders normal
• High current draw preceding voltage sag (local overload)
• THD or unbalance violation isolated to one substation
• P.52 timestamp does NOT match Eskom load-shedding schedule

NERSA reporting: NRS 048-2 requires reporting party to clearly distinguish supply-side from network-side non-compliance in quarterly submissions.
📋 Meter Recording Requirements (Metcom MCS301)
Profile P.06 (15-min interval data): Voltage (V), current (A), frequency (Hz), kW, kVAr, kVA, PF, THDu, unbalance — stored per phase per interval.
Profile P.53 (PQ event log): Sags & swells — timestamp, duration, voltage level at event (Event Param 1 = voltage in V). Key for severity classification.
Profile P.52 (Power Failure log): Long interruptions — timestamp + duration (seconds). Read via DLMS ProfileGeneric (OBIS 1-0:99.97.0*255).
Profile P.98 (Standard event log): Programming changes, resets, covers.
Measurement period: Should be 600 s (10 min) for NRS 048-2 compliance. Meters programmed at 300 s (5 min) still comply — data is aggregatable.
